Calvary Connect Team

Roles and Expectations

We are committed to making everyone feel welcome, appreciated and loved at Calvary!

Welcome Team

At Calvary Auckland, we want everyone to feel welcome and appreciated - to feel the love of Jesus – whether this is their first time at Calvary, or their three hundred and first time. As a member of the Welcome Team, you will be responsible for welcoming every person who comes through our doors on a Sunday morning. You will be the first face they see, and you will have the privilege to show them the love of Jesus, creating the atmosphere that we pray will characterise all that we do at Calvary. You will be scheduled approximately once every four weeks and will work directly under the Calvary Connect Ministry Leader, who will provide any support you need while serving on the Calvary Connect Team.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Faithfully serve and pray regularly for those who attend Calvary Auckland.
  • On mornings that you are scheduled to serve, please arrive at 9:30 am to ensure you are ready to welcome people when they begin arriving.
  • As much as is possible, ensure that people feel welcome, appreciated and loved when they arrive at Calvary Auckland.
  • Hand our weekly bulletin to those who would like it.
  • Remind families to please check their children into Calvary Kids. Provide directions to the Calvary Kid’s Check-in if parents are unsure where to go.
  • Remain at the front doors to welcome people until 10:15 am.

Ushering Team

The purpose of our Ushering team is to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and at home at Calvary! As a member of our Ushering Team, you will be available to help new people find the bathroom, parents find the Calvary Kids check-in, or latecomers find a seat in the sanctuary. But, more importantly, you have the opportunity to talk with those who need an ear, to connect new people with other members in the church and to share upcoming events with those who may be interested.
  • As much as is possible, ensure that people feel welcome, appreciated and loved at Calvary Auckland.
  • Try to engage with those who appear new or are on their own.
  • Be available to direct people to amenities or seats.
  • Close the sanctuary doors when worship starts and open them when it ends.
  • Be available to distribute Bibles to those who may need them when the sermon starts.

Coffee & Tea Team

We want Calvary Auckland to be a community, where people can find fellowship and friendship, love and encouragement, within the family of Christ. As a member of the Coffee & Tea Team, you have the opportunity to help to facilitate the building of relationships within our church, by faithfully serving tea, coffee and biscuits each Sunday morning. You will be scheduled approximately once every four weeks and will work directly under the Calvary Connect Ministry Leader, who will provide any support you need while serving on the Calvary Connect Team.
Specific Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the tea and coffee throughout our service and aim to keep the area clean and tidy.
  • Put everything away after the service and clean those things that require it.

Communion Team

On the first Sunday of each month, we celebrate communion together as a church body. As a member of the Communion team, you will help to prepare the matzah and grape juice on those mornings. You will be scheduled approximately once every two-to-three months and will work directly under the Calvary Connect Ministry Leader, who will provide any support you need while serving on the Calvary Connect Team.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Faithfully serve and pray regularly for those who attend Calvary Auckland.
  • On mornings that you are scheduled to serve, please arrive at 9:00 am to ensure communion is available in the sanctuary before the service starts.
  • At the end of the service, return any remaining matzah and grape juice to the kitchen.
  • Leave one tray of grape juice and one plate of matzah at the front of the sanctuary for families and Calvary Kids volunteers to take after the service.

Prayer Team

Each Sunday morning, faithful members of our church family boldly come before the throne of grace to seek mercy and grace on behalf of brothers and sisters in their time of need. As a member of our Prayer Team, you will be a part of that ministry. You will have the privilege, and responsibility, of praying, mourning, and celebrating with members of our church family, as they seek grace and peace from our loving Father. You will be scheduled approximately once every four weeks and will work directly under the Calvary Connect Ministry Leader, who will provide any support you need while serving on the Calvary Connect Team.
