Roles and Expectations
Our Calvary Kids team are a passionate and committed group of volunteers who love our Calvary Kids.
To protect both the children and you, all Calvary Kids teachers and helpers will need to be vetted by the NZ Police Vetting Service to serve in the Calvary Kids Ministry.

Calvary Kids Teacher
As a Calvary Kids teacher, your role is to lead and teach a Calvary Kids class for six weeks, twice a year. You will be provided with lesson materials from the Gospel Project curriculum and any resources you need for the class. You will need to prepare for the lesson and coordinate with your helper(s) to ensure they are prepared. You will care for the children during the service and seek to disciple them in their faith. The Calvary Kids Ministry Leader will provide any support you need while serving in the Calvary Kids ministry.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Pray regularly for the children in your class.
- Prepare well for your lesson, using the Gospel project curriculum.
- Communicate with the helper, delegating tasks such as crafts and activities to them in advance of the lessons.
- On the mornings that you are scheduled to teach, please arrive at 9:15 am to pray with the other Calvary Kids team members.
- Ensure that the children in your class feel welcome, included, cared for and encouraged in their faith.
- Communicate and uphold the Calvary Kids vision on a weekly basis.
- Communicate behavioral concerns with the Calvary Kids Ministry Leader.
Calvary Kids Helper
As a Calvary Kids helper, your role is to assist and support the Calvary Kids teacher for six weeks, twice a year. Ahead of the class, the teacher may delegate tasks to you, such as preparing a craft activity, ice-breaker game, or memory verse challenge, which you will lead during the class. You will help the children stay engaged during the lesson and encourage them to participate in the activities. In the older classes, you may lead discussions within small groups. You will also help to ensure that the children are well cared for during the service and seek to invest in their lives and faith. The Calvary Kids Ministry Leader will provide any support you need while serving in the Calvary Kids ministry.
Specific Responsibilities:

- Plan and prepare any tasks delegated to you by the class teacher.
- On mornings that you are scheduled to help, please arrive at 9:15 am to pray with the Calvary Kids team members.
- At the beginning of class, check kids into the classroom and complete the attendance register.
- Ensure that the children in your class feel welcome, included, cared for and encouraged in their faith.
- Assist and support the teacher with behavioural management.
- Communicate and uphold the Calvary Kids vision.
- Communicate behavioral concerns with the Calvary Kids Ministry Leader.
