Roles and Expectations
We are committed to making everyone feel welcome, appreciated and loved at Calvary!
Welcome Team
At Calvary Auckland, we want everyone to feel welcome and appreciated – to feel the love of Jesus – whether this is their first time at Calvary, or their three hundred and first time. As a member of the Welcome Team, you will be responsible for welcoming every person who comes through our doors on a Sunday morning. You will be the first face they see, and you will have the privilege to show them the love of Jesus, creating the atmosphere that we pray will characterise all that we do at Calvary.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Faithfully serve and pray regularly for those who attend Calvary Auckland.
- On mornings that you are scheduled to serve, please arrive at 9:30 am to ensure you are ready to welcome people when they begin arriving.
- As much as is possible, ensure that people feel welcome, appreciated and loved when they arrive at Calvary Auckland.
- Have a general knowledge of the various ministries of the church, and the contact people for each ministry, to answer questions people may have.
- Remain at the front doors to welcome people until 10:15 am
Ushering Team
The purpose of our Ushering team is to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and at home at Calvary! As a member of our Ushering Team, you will be available to help new people find the bathroom, parents know about Calvary Kids, or latecomers find a seat in the sanctuary. You have the opportunity to talk with those who need an ear and to connect new people with other members in the church.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Faithfully serve and pray regularly for those who attend Calvary Auckland.
- On mornings that you are scheduled to serve, please arrive at 9:30 am to ensure you are ready to welcome people when they begin arriving.
- As much as is possible, ensure that people feel welcome, appreciated and loved at Calvary Auckland.
- Try to engage with those who appear new or are on their own.
- Have a general knowedge of events that are happening in the church.
- See app or website for updated information.
- Direct people to these as well.
- Know who each ministry is so you can direct people who may have specific questions.
- Be available to direct people to amenities or seats.
- Be attentive to needs during the service that may arise.
- Close the sanctuary doors when worship starts and open them when it ends.
- Be available to distribute Bibles to those who may need them when the sermon starts.
Coffee & Tea Team
We want Calvary Auckland to be a community, where people can find fellowship and friendship, love and encouragement, within the family of Christ. As a member of the Coffee & Tea Team, you have the opportunity to help to facilitate the building of relationships within our church, by faithfully serving tea, coffee and biscuits each Sunday morning.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Faithfully serve and pray regularly for those who attend Calvary Auckland.
- On mornings that you are scheduled to serve, please arrive at 9:00 am to ensure the coffee and tea is available from 9:30 am.
- Be available to engage with and talk to people while they make their hot drinks, especially before the service starts.
- Monitor the tea and coffee throughout our service and aim to keep the area clean and tidy.
- Place biscuits/cookies out after service when the final song has ended.
- Put everything away after the service and clean those things that require it.
Communion Team
On the first and third Sundays of each month, we celebrate communion together as a church body. As a member of the Communion team, you will help to prepare the matzah and grape juice on those mornings.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Faithfully serve and pray regularly for those who attend Calvary Auckland.
- On mornings that you are scheduled to serve, please arrive at 9:00 am to ensure communion is available in the sanctuary before the service starts.
- We encourage you to pray before preparing the elements of Communion. Thank the Lord for the opportunity to commemorate what He has done for us on the cross. Pray that the Lord would meet with and speak to people during Communion.
- At the end of the service, return any remaining matzah and grape juice to the kitchen.
- Leave one tray of grape juice and one plate of matzah at the front of the sanctuary for families and Calvary Kids volunteers to take after the service.
- Empty out and clean black pots (back of sanctuary) after the service is over.
Prayer Team
Each Sunday morning, faithful members of our church family boldly come before the throne of grace to seek mercy and grace on behalf of brothers and sisters in their time of need. As a member of our Prayer Team, you will be a part of that ministry. You will have the privilege, and responsibility, of praying, mourning, comforting, encouraging, and celebrating with members of our church family, as they seek grace and peace from our loving Father.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Faithfully serve and pray regularly for those who attend Calvary Auckland.
- On mornings that you are scheduled to serve, please be available at the front of the sanctuary after the service to pray with those who are in need. You should make your way to the front at the end of the last worship song.
- Please be aware of the potential needs in the room. Look for those who may need prayer.
